Some would say that the iPhone is the best phone out! Others would debate saying that Android has a better operating system and allows you to do more than the iPhone. Since Apple has created the iPhone in 2007 there has been anywhere from 15 million to 60+ million sales each year for the phone. Remember, this is a phone that only has six different versions.
In comparison to the iPhone which has had 6 different versions of the same phone in the last 5 or so years, Samsung has released 30 different phones in the 2012 alone. However Samsung isn’t the only company who has released an abundance of phones this last year. Other companies such as LG has released around 15 phones, HTC has released 11 phones, and 24 between Motorola, Nokia, and Sony. There are many differences between the various phones that potentially could make an impact on cellular telephone sales for the future including the camera, screen resolution, and screen size. The changes on the iPhone have not been as dramatic as its competitors like Samsung, Droid, and HTC.
These statistics beg the question: Can apple continue to do it while only advertising one cellphone each year? Yes, the iPhone has reached its peak and is slowly declining, but does the rest of the world see it that way or does the world see a phone that is intuitive with no learning curve and a small number of issues in comparison to its competition operating system, Android.
Apple did recently decide to throw a curve ball out there by reducing the number of iPhone 5 orders in half. After announcing that they were going to cut the orders in half they left everyone with no explanation on why. For the competition between Apple and their competitors this not very news and their stock is starting to dive. This all leads to an underlining question “Without Steve Jobs can Apple survive or will they become a myth?” What do you think? Should Apple provide more variety for its users and offer more cellphones throughout the year or do you think that they should continue with their minimalistic approach and only provide a new phone once a year to keep the demand of the their product?
