Even though Facebook has recently updated their privacy settings, not too many people are taking advantage of it. A recent study has shown that almost 13 million users do not use these privacy settings or are unaware of them.
This can result in a lot of problems. More people can view your private information than you think. Studies have shown that some people are sharing way too much information online. Even the smallest things can lead to someone using your information against you. Just by posting when and where you will be somewhere can help someone know the perfect time to sneak into your house when no one is home.
Some people don’t even use the privacy settings at all. When these settings are not used in any way, all of your information and posts can eventually be viewed by a larger amount of people than you even know. Many times, people do not want their workplace seeing certain areas of information on their page. Without using these settings the proper way, anyone can access your personal photos or information.
Not many Facebook users realize that their information is not being protected unless they set up their page a certain way. If more people were aware of these privacy settings, less private information would be getting spread around.
